Lorama
Bio-based chemical manufacturer develops proficiency in sustainability practices, GHG inventory management and supply chain risk.

Client Overview
Founded in 1977 and headquartered in Mississauga Ontario, Lorama Group Inc. is both a manufacturer of Colour Dispersions & Bio-based Additives, as well as an international distributor of Specialty Chemicals and Functional Extenders.
Client's ESG challenges
Lorama faced the daunting task of conducting their first Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory and S211 Force Labour reporting for compliance. Additionally, they had the complex exercise of engaging their supply chain on sensitive topics such as child labour and forced labour issues and risks.
Understanding the nuances of GHG emissions, encompassing Scope 1, 2, and 3, and identifying the material categories of emissions from their operations was essential.
The Sustainext solution
Sustainext identified all the gaps in the current systems and processes and proposed using its Platform with In-built Consulting support to automate their data collection process and standardize the entire data management system and reporting process.

Sustainext's comprehensive Emissions module with over 80,000 emission factors allows the client to maintain accurate and scientifically vetted data which is Audit ready. In addition to Emissions Data, Sustainext is also a GRI Certified Software Provider which makes ESG reporting and Compliance a breeze.

In addition to deploying the Platform, Sustainext also conducted a Materiality Assessment and a detailed Net Zero Workshop for the Client to help them streamline internal processes and define roles and responsibilities clearly. This has also led to increased Employee Engagement within the Organization.

Sustainext has also been appointed by Lorama as the Preferred Supply Chain Sustainability Consultant and is working closely with various Vendors to help them achieve an Ecovadis Rating that will also make them more efficient, and in-turn make data collection a whole lot easier from the Value Chain.

One of the main challenges during this implementation was the need to create a separate Module for Bill S-211 which is a Canadian Specific Regulatory requirement on Forced Labor and Child Labor in Supply Chains. This was not a part of the initial scope and hence creating this module just before the final user acceptance testing delayed the project by almost 3 weeks however the Client now has a fully working Bill S-211 Module which was also used in Early 2024 for their first report.
The outcome
Lorama’s teams are now proficient in sustainability practices, GHG inventory management, and modern slavery considerations. The collaboration with Sustainext enabled them to meet current reporting requirements while proactively preparing for future regulations. The groundwork for an advanced, sustainable supply chain has been laid, and Lorama has instituted effective data governance and collection systems. Through these initiatives, Lorama not only complies with existing standards but is also poised to adapt swiftly to upcoming regulatory changes.
